The last time I went to Malaysia, the immigration officer over at Malaysia side had wanted me to change my passport photo.
I figured that he (the immigration officer) was fishing for bribes, for he was making disparaging 'tsking' sounds and making exaggerated expressions of disbelief over the disparity between me and my passport photo.
I feigned ignorance at his Oscar worthy performance, he wrote the words 'Change Photo (Final)' on my passport.
That was last Friday.
And I had jio-ed Zhongda and Alan for a trip to Malaysia for a KTV scream our lungs out session today.
I could have tried to wing it past the immigration but being detained by the Malaysian immigration for an outdated passport photo would have sucked.
Imagine being in a prison cell where all your fellow detainees are murderers, rapists and robbers and you are in there because you look like a nerdy motherfucker (pardon the language, but I have been watching too much Peter Chao on Youtube) in your goddamn passport photo.
It will be almost like that guy who was arrested for rubbing shit on a building.
So, to save myself from such a fate, I came up with two plans to get myself across the causeway.

PLAN A : Go to the ICA building early in the morning to change my passport photo.
PLAN B : Prepare around RM10-20 to 'convince' the Malaysian immigration officer to let me pass.
After picking up Zhongda and Alan at around 7am, I made my way to the ICA building.

The morning traffic was horrendous but the worse part was when I have to pass through 2 ERP gantries. Its kinda ironic to be paying for something that is supposed to ease the traffic while being stuck in the traffic.
When I reached the ICA building, I was informed by the officer that there are no longer photo renewal services, instead I have to pay $70-$80 bucks for a new biometric passport and I would have to wait around 3 days for the passport to be ready, the worse thing was, I looked real shitty in my new passport photo.
As Plan A had failed miserably, I had no choice but to proceed with Plan B if we are going to get to Malaysia today.
I folded a RM10 bill into a small piece and left it at my car's side holder for easy access. As I reached the Malaysian side of the custom, I cursed inwardly when I saw that the immigration officer is a girl, for the female race are notorious for working by the book.
I hold my folded RM10 in my right hand, unsure of whether to pass it to her.
But the immigration did not seemed to sense my indecisiveness and this is how the conversation went.
Immigration Officer : Hey, your passport photo must change ah, why you never change?
Me : Um... I just went to change it but it will not be ready so soon.
And then I tried my best grin on her, but I have been told often by my sister that my best grin makes me look like an idiot and that might be the reason why the officer let us pass...
Immigration Officer : Ok... but next time must change ah!
Me : Thank you, Thank you!
We reached Jusco Tebrau City at around 1140am and we proceeded almost immediately to Redbox (their equivalent to Singapore's Kbox) for our KTV session.
We sang from 12pm to 3:30pm and it cost us around RM 15 each.
Basically the quality is about the same as Kbox but the funny thing is that the Redbox has more english songs selection than Kbox, which is kinda funny, for isn't Singapore supposed to be a English speaking country? Get More English songs, Kbox!
After the KTV, we went to watch the movie 'The Ugly Truth' and I have to say that the movie was one of the best movie that I have watched this year.
The jokes are funny, the female lead is damn pretty and the male lead is a bloke... what is there not to like? The movie is M18 though but it is more because of its sexual reference than because of any nudity. We were laughing from the beginning of the movie to the end.
When the movie ended, we had our dinner at the Manhattan's Fish Market before heading back to Singapore.
Cost of the Trip:
To pass through the Woodlands Custom : $1.50
To pass through the Malaysia Custom : RM2
Parking at Jusco : RM1
KTV : RM15
Movie : RM11
Dinner : RM30
Petrol : RM30
Total : RM89 + $1.50
Considering that the exchange rate is about 2.4 and that if we had done the exact same thing in Singapore, it would have cost us around $100 also, this trip is really not that expensive.
P.S. As usual, the entry contains a lot of crap from me and anyone who might take offense from it should treat this post as nonsensical ramblings. Also, I am now unable to post about anything funny for I seemed to have misplaced my sense of humor. Please bear with me while I try to find it back.
